I can see how the dual "nots" get confusing. Hmm. How about:

Sorry my fault, the sentence is that convoluted (at least to me), that I always shifted the comma behind Wisconsin, which sort of reverses the meaning.
I did read it several times, but never got it right.
Being no native speaker can be a disadvantage .
