It's just doubled for emphasis. And because Liseli is trying to convince herself there is no ghost, that the child is completely gone, not lingering in any spirit form.

It's like "dead and gone" only I like it better as "gone and gone.'

It's good to see Elly not knowing something for once - 'why's Mommy got stuff she doesn't want me to see?' Nice!

And ditto on the 'poor Liseli' comment. Russ could have at least left a note saying he was getting Elly's present or something.

I don’t know how you manage to write so quickly, and still put out such a good story.

Oh, er, um . . . I don’t write quickly actually. I wrote this stuff years ago. I don’t have the whole novel complete, but I do have about 30 chapters of draft material.

Right now all I’m doing is rewriting, editing, and formatting before each post. Which is the only reason I can stick to this schedule. I suspect my output will drop to once a week, at best, when I’ve reached the end of pre-written stuff.
